There will always be those who disagree and you need to be ready. For example, a good thing to do is think about flaws in your argument and how you can refute them. Another thing to do is say what the opposite argument is and tell why they are wrong. Both are very adequate. I found that this is most helpful in a persuasive essay. There is always an opposition to your argument which is why it is a smart idea to put in a paragraph solely for a refute.

Another thing that is cruicial in writing is explaining why what you have to say is important. If readers don't care about your topic or think that it isn't important then they wont read it seriously or maybe not at all. So what you have to do as a writer is explain why people should care. A good thing to do is provide facts.
